Breezes Curacao Resort

Review by: Jim S.
Date: 01 Jan, 2008

My wife and I and our 12-year old daughter stayed at the Breezes Curacao resort from December 21 - 27, 2007. We picked this resort because of its kid-friendliness and large number of activities. Breezes certainly was kid friendly and did have lots of activities.

We stayed in the Royal Tower the first night but the music was pounding until 4:30 am. They moved us to the Pelican Wing for the remainder of our reservation. That room was very quiet but the Pelican Wing doesn't have an elevator. Also, the current is 50 cycles so we couldn't recharge our camera batteries. If you're a light sleeper, you'd be wise to pack earplugs.

We especially enjoyed the trapeze, the pools, the protected snorkeling, the evening dancing and the 1 free shore dive every day. The rooms were older but OK. We saw a few small bugs but no cockroaches. The in-room safe was free and worked great. The resort seemed safe and had a constant security presence. However, we were told not to leave electronics lying about. Unlike some Mexico resorts, there were no vendors on the property or the beaches. We only visited the casino once because it was really smokey. We went into town once. It was very touristy. We bough a few trinkets. The prices are negotiable.

The food at Breezes was OK but not exceptional. The best dining was at Pastafari. The Japanese steak house was OK. Jimmy's Buffet was OK but didn't have a lot a variety in their breakfasts or lunches. Like other Caribbean resorts, the desserts look better than they taste. Be sure to make your reservations for the gourmet restaurants when you arrive as they aren't open every day and fill up fast.

The resort had 2 Hobie Cats but only their employees did the sailing, you basically just went for a 15-minute sail. There were plenty of kayaks but you couldn't leave the protected area. The resort ran out of beach towels in the afternoons so we used the room towels. There were several bars throughout the property. We had mostly non-alcoholic drinks but they were serving premium liquor.

The staff was very warm and friendly. The evening entertainment was great. The staff was very entertaining and personable. All the staff was multi-lingual. When we were there, most of the guests were from Venezeula or Canada. There were also a lot of Europeans. Americans were probably the minority. We forgot our Spanish dictionary which would have made communicating with the South American guests easier. Many of the guests we met were returning guests. While Breezes Curacao was OK, there are other all-inclusive resorts on other islands that we plan to visit before returning here. Hope this helps.
